Well, finally, I get to blog about my birthday cos I have been waiting for my pics to be sent to me.. *stares at Lei*
UPDATE (081208): gotten the other pics:
However, I realize I do not have the complete set of photos, but I ain’t gonna wait anymore. Shall post whatever I have at the moment. If not, by the time I had posted my birthday, its backdated one month!
So let’s recall..
I went for a phuket trip during the first week of November as a birthday trip.
It was a tourist area; all the food and clothes were expensive. Well, you can get food at a reasonable price, but definitely nothing cheap (unlike Bangkok).
As for clothes, they are ridiculously expensive. A pair of boxing gloves ia sold at 1000baht when you can get 200baht a pair in Bangkok (and exactly the same!) and a pair of shorts is sold at 1200 baht. It’s really expensive, but of cos, if you are good at bargaining, you may still get cheap stuff, however, there’s a limit to how much you can bargain. Most of the time, you just can’t be bothered cos you know you can get a much cheaper price elsewhere even if you are to bargain. So yea..
We went for a day trip to Phi Phi Island for about 1600baht per person, which includes all meals and snorkeling + equipments (except the fins). It was really fun except we bumped into this Indian woman who came to squeeze in between us during the trip so that she could talk to the ang moh. *rolleyes*
Ok, you see.. We need to travel via a speedboat and we were sitting in the front board where you can enjoy the breeze and look out to the sea. Oh before that, we took a shuttle bus to the jetty and unfortunately, the driver had to pick up this Indian woman & co. this group of people ate and talked loudly in the van, and the worse thing, their food were Indian food with a lot of gravy and very pungent smell. It was only 8 in the morning. Bloody hell.
So back to the speedboat.. We were all sit in front and she came out 10minutes later with her brother, trying to take photo. We didn’t really care cos she did not disturb her. Then, she asked joy if she can sit to take photo. We were reluctant cos it was already filled to the max and she wasn’t slim to start with. But it’s only for a photo, so why not? And so, we squeezed to give her some space to sit. After taking photo, she didn’t leave and started talking to the Australian beside her. And tada! We were stuck with her. Some of them couldn’t even sit properly; there weren’t enough space for 2 legs! Damn.
So the next round (when we stopped to take photos of the sea and rocks as below), we sat well with no space for extra fats and she stay in the boat.
However, the 3rd round, when we were returning to Phuket, she came out. We refused to give her space and she kept asking and SQUEEZED in! Bloody bitch. We refused to give her anymore space and thus, both the Australian and her were squeezed in the 2nd round. The Australian knew all of us (not jus US us, but everybody who was sitting there) were unhappy with the Indian woman, yet he happily chatted with her and made more space for her, squeezing the rest! Stupid ass.
Well, that aside, the trip was fun. We got to snorkel and enjoy the beach. Joy did not snorkel as she was afraid of water, what a pity. But then, it was still fun for all of us. =)
Back to phuket, we walked the most happening streets and watched the transsexuals dance while we sipped our beers. Wasn’t a pretty sight as most of them were … beyond looking. They wore really slutty clothes that were too tight for them and they kept touching themselves at the sensitive areas. They pulled down their top to expose their tits and pull up their skirts to expose their G-string (if they wore any in the first place) which was very disturbing.
Of cos, not all were like that but 50% were. So yea.. We only managed to finish one beer before we called it quits. Gotta pamper our eyes a bit you know? So we left the whole street of pubs to check out the clubs. Sad to say, the largest club – Hollywood sucked. Their music was boring and the place was run down. Only a few ang mohs were there with girls accompanying them.
Disappointed, we went to get food. There was this stall (mobile stalls) selling crêpes and oh man, her banana chocolate crêpes were superb! Her skills were very good! Pity we didn’t record the way she did the crêpes. The way she cut the banana without cutting off the skin and the way she spread the crêpe and the chocolate syrup.. yum yum! *dreaming away*
Other than that, we bumped into my Chinese birthday during the trip and Joy treated me to a seafood restaurant where they served FRESH oysters! Hooray! I was so thrilled when they told me they had fresh oysters! We had 5 oysters and a salad, soups, a plate of pizza, lobsters and steaks.
They had live band singing on the stage which added on to the ambience. It was definitely not cheap but it was worth it. Oh, did I mention the singers were ladies? Yup, both ladies and one of them had her eye on Francis. You should have seen the way she smiled at him, the way she looked at him! Oh my god, so… obvious that she was interested in him.
There was a group of female ang mohs sitting at the next table and we started discussing about one of them. The thing with this particular lady was her breasts were very firm, firm to an extent that they looked fake. So we start debating whether they were fake or real. In the end, we concluded they weren’t real cos they were like 2 BALLS on her chest (not cos they were big, but cos they were very round). Well, some entertainment while having dinner.
We went sun tanning too and bumped into one of their festivals (can’t remember what it’s called) and there were lanterns lighting along the beach where you make a wish, light up the lantern and let it fly into the sky. The sky was filled with such lanterns and it looked like stars shining brightly. A very beautiful night view to have with your partner. There were fireworks too where it’s sold at 200 baht each, very expensive. So we did not buy. =(
However, I managed to record the whole process of trying to light up the lantern (100baht each) and letting it fly to the sky (it was drizzling) and the lighting of fireworks by other people. =D
With that, we ended our Phuket trip. Got back on the 13th as Joy was going to celebrate my birthday on the 14th (my birthday was on the 15th). Had Popeye for lunch and ban mian for dinner and late at night, my stomach hurt, I started to have diarrhea and I was nauseous. I vomited and started having fainting spells. I couldn’t even see a thing at one point, everything was white.
This lasted to the next day and I went to the doctor’s for an injection. Sms joy to inform her that I couldn’t meet on that day (14th) and went to sleep for a whole 24hours. Yes, 24 hours. I slept through out, only waking up to drink or take medicine. I was so weak that I couldn’t even keep my eyes open during the 24hours.
Was slightly better on my birthday itself and had lunch with mum. After that, I rested awhile before meeting joy and co at SheBang. Wanted to go DBL O but decided against it as I wasn’t very stable and loud music with poor ventilation might make me sick again. Thus, went to SheBang to celebrate my birthday.
Being my best friend, Joy never fails to surprise me. She baked a huge lychee martini birthday cake for me. Yes, she BAKED all by herself. Wasn’t a small cake, it was the standard birthday cake size which can feed 10 to 12 people. I was so touched but no tears as I was very dehydrated. Lol.
Next, she gave me a couch wristlet, my first branded good (people who know me well enough knows I never shop for branded goods. Lol).. She gave me a card too which was very funny yet true. Lol.
I was told that Icy prepared a present for me too but it was with Lei’s friend and till now, I have not seen it. *stares at Lei again*
Well, that’s the number of presents I had that day. I was happy cos I got to spend it with my close friends. Tom came as well. It was a surprise really cos both of us had been very busy with our work and life and had not seen each other for quite awhile.
Yup, we ended our night there with drinks (which I did not drink cos I was on medication) and a good night sleep. =)
Nothing spectacular really, but it was special as usual for me cos every year, my close friends will always do something for my birthday even though I never liked to celebrate. *smiles*
Received a package yesterday and it was from Rachel. She got me a doll and a star ornament with a card.
The ornament was very very nice. Ain’t sure if that’s made by Rachel but even if it isn’t, I am happy cos distance did not dilute our friendship and she still remembers my birthday. =)
I especially love the card due to the words written on it and in it too (which I am not showing cos it’s personal).
Sometimes, it’s not the present that matters but the words written.
And so.............................
I am 25 years old now, officially stepped into the first quarter crisis of my life. =(
